What is Los Altos Hacks?

Los Altos Hacks is a hackathon, an overnight event where people can code a project together. At Los Altos Hacks, you will have 24 hours to make your idea a reality. This year, we're aiming to have around 300 attendees with an even gender ratio.

Contact us at [email protected] if you have questions that aren't answered below.

Who can participate?

Any high school student can participate. If you’ve already graduated from high school, you can’t participate, but you can come help mentor others.

How do I form or join a team?

There will be a session at the beginning of the hackathon for you to meet others and form teams. Each team may have a maximum of 4 people.

Does this cost money?

No! Los Altos Hacks is free for all participants — all food, swag, and other costs are covered.

What if I can't code?

No problem! We are accepting people regardless of experience. Plus, we'll have workshops where you can learn.

What should I bring?

Bring a valid student ID, a laptop, chargers, and the signed Parent Packet (you can also complete it online). Power strips, sleeping bags, and toiletries highly recommended.

Do you have a code of conduct?

Yes. All hackers must follow the MLH Code of Conduct and the rules in the Hacker Fund Parent Packet. The packet must be signed in order to attend.

Who organized this?

The Los Altos Hacks II Team

The Los Altos Hacks II team consists of Aashia Mehta, An Huynh, Cole Brinsfield, Colin Scholler, Dan Appel (not shown), Grace Gao, Jamsheed Mistri (not shown), Justin Yu, Krizia Araracap, Kyle Sandell (not shown), Oscar Bjorkman, Ryan Huang, Samuel Shi (not shown) and Zooey Nguyen.

Disclaimers

Los Altos Hacks is a program organized in partnership with Hacker Fund, a fiscal sponsor for charitable community projects that empower technology education. Hacker Fund is a 501(c)(3) public charity with the EIN: 47-2485464. All donations to our event are tax-deductible.

By registering, I agree to the terms of both the MLH Contest Terms and Conditions and the MLH Privacy Policy. Please note that you may receive pre and post-event informational e-mails and occasional messages about hackathons from MLH as per the MLH Privacy Policy.
